I’m Ian Weir, a freelance senior product designer based near London with 20 years experience creating and validating end-to-end design solutions for global brands like Jaguar Land Rover, EE, Sony, Mercedes-Benz, Barclaycard and many more.

I carry out discovery and research, map architecture and user flows, study user types, lay down conceptual wireframes, build prototypes and design with attention to detail. I’ve worked with many top agencies and I’ve experienced many changes in workflow patterns over the years. I can adapt to any team structure and always work transparently.

Design has always been a part of my life, from my early sketching to my University degree which was one of the first to offer digital design. Fast forward to the present, and I have my main objective is to make complex situations feel simple by delivering fully considered design solutions that meet and exceed user and client expectations.

Approach

I take a user centred approach that places the creative process at the heart of product development. I optimise the UX strategy to balance the user needs, business goals and engineering feasibility. I adapt processes and tasks, collaborate effectively and can mentor other designers.

AFK

As a keen runner and mountain biker I’ll often be found out on the trails and taking part in the occassional competition. It’s a great way to focus the mind and think clearly.
